Day of Service update
Congratulations to the Lecanto Ward, the Crystal River Lions, CHIPS, the City of Crystal River and Key Training Garden Center, we did it!!!
It was well worth the work to get this opportunity to partner with each one of you in this great public effort. We accomplished everything we set out to do, though it was not easy, and there were minor bumps in the road, we got it done and everyone we served were elated that we cared enough to make this a National Day of Service on their behalf. Many of you did not know that the Mayor of Crystal River, Ron Kitchens, Jr. showed up ready to work. He stayed for a couple of hours and saw a group of 62 folks (members of the church, Lions, and CHIPS reps) working hard to make our commitment come to life. He was very impressed and will be mentioning our efforts at his next meeting, and will bring his constituency to the site to demonstrate what we accomplished publicly.
The Citrus County Chronicle representative arrived to take pics and get the story that will go in the paper soon and it was great to rub elbows with each of these county representatives, going about doing good. The Lions club reps Steve and Vera Fredericks will be sending over emails of various service projects they have coming up, which we could partner with them on (such as, for the homeless in our community, ect) later in the year. What a great way to network and connect in our community. Our National Day of Service contribution has opened an effectual door to serving others and it is my prayer, my hope that we will continue on in this spirit looking for the privilege to give of our time, talents and means to add something to Citrus County's greatness.
